Eden Cottage, South Street, Gavinton

Eden Cottage is an earlier 19th-century single-storey building that has undergone later additions and alterations. It is part of a three-bay terrace situated on sloping ground towards the east. The exterior is constructed of rubble with stugged ashlar dressings.

The north elevation, facing South Street, features a three-bay arrangement with a panelled door in the center, topped by a 2-pane letterbox fanlight. There are bipartite windows on either side, which have stop-chamfered margins.

On the south elevation, there is a small window at ground level in the center. To the left, a modern glazed timber door is set in a bay, accompanied by a dormer window that breaks the eaves at the first floor. A single-storey monopitch addition projects from the outer left side. To the right, there is a window at ground level, along with another dormer window breaking the eaves.

The north elevation features 4-pane timber sash and case windows, while the south elevation has a timber 4-pane sash and case window at ground level and uPVC windows at the first floor. Modern skylights are installed in the center of the south elevation. The roof is covered with slate, and there are brick stacks at each gablehead.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1995.
