Eden House, South Street, Gavinton

Eden House is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house located at the end of a terrace on South Street in Gavinton, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings on the north elevation and squared sandstone on the west elevation.

On the north elevation, which faces South Street, there is a stair window at the center of the three-bay group, with windows on each floor of the flanking bays. Most of these windows are blinded, except for the first-floor window in the left bay. To the outer right, there is a slightly set-back rubble wall with coping and a doorpiece featuring a modern boarded door that leads to the garden. The left bay has a panelled door with glazed upper panels, a window to the left at ground level, and a window that breaks the eaves at the first floor, aligned with the ground-level window.

The south elevation is not fully visible as of 1995, but it features a slightly advanced ashlar bay at the center and a first-floor window breaking the eaves in the single bay group.

The north elevation of Eden House has uPVC windows. The three-bay group has a piended slate roof with a rendered wallhead stack on the west side and an ashlar coped stack on the east. The single bay has a slate roof with a brick stack at the gablehead.

The interior was not seen in 1995.
