Description
Orchard House is a late 18th century, likely reworked in the early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house that forms the end of a terrace and faces a green. The exterior is constructed of squared and snecked tooled cream sandstone, with random rubble on the sides and rear, and features droved and stugged sandstone dressings. The building has stugged quoins, stugged long and short surrounds to the openings, and projecting cills.
On the northwest elevation, there are steps leading to a timber panelled door at the centre of the ground floor, topped by a 2-pane fanlight, with a single window directly above. There are single windows on both floors in the bay to the outer right, and a single window at ground level in the outer left bay, which has been infilled where a cart opening once was, with another window aligned above on the first floor.
The southeast elevation features a substantial slatted timber addition on the outer right, a patio door in the outer left bay at ground level, and a single window on the first floor. The windows predominantly have 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case style, although some modern windows are present at the rear. The roof is covered with grey slate, has raised stone skews, and brick stacks at the northeast and southwest, though many of the cans are missing. The interior was not seen in 1998.
