Description
Leithen Cottage is a later 18th century single-storey cottage with an attic, part of a terrace that faces the green in Swinton. The building features whitewashed harl with painted margins.
On the northwest elevation, there is a centrally located timber panelled door at the ground level, with single windows in the flanking bays. Above, gabled windows break the eaves. The southeast elevation has a glazed addition at the ground level and a large box dormer above.
The front of the cottage has 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, along with a small skylight. The rear has modern windows. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with grey slate, featuring raised skews and replacement rainwater goods. There is a mutual brick ridge stack on the southwest side, although the cans are missing.
The interior was not seen in 1998.
