Description

This late 18th century semi-detached cottage, with an attic added in the later 19th century, is a single storey and has three bays. The principal (south) elevation features regular window placement, with gabled dormers that break the eaves. The exterior is rendered to imitate ashlar, with painted stone dressings, while the west elevation is harled and the rear (north) elevation is constructed of red sandstone rubble. The building has a base course and quoin strips.

On the south elevation, there is a near-central entrance with chamfered and stopped reveals, leading to a replacement part-glazed door. Flanking windows are present on each floor, with gables breaking the eaves in the attic. The north elevation has a right corner that is chamfered at the ground and corbelled to a square above, with altered openings on the ground floor. There is a small window to the right of the attic, with flanking outer gabled dormers breaking the eaves.

The west elevation features a blank skewed gable end. The principal (south) elevation has plate glass, timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered in grey slate, with a coped gablehead stack on the west side and round cans.

Inside, the cottage has been largely modernised, but some early cornicing remains on the ground floor.
