Description

Waterloo Cottage is an earlier 19th century cottage with later additions and alterations. It is a 2-storey building with an attic and a rectangular plan, featuring four bays and a single-storey lean-to addition on the right. The exterior is harled with pink sandstone ashlar margins and sandstone mullions for the later bipartite windows, which have flush cills.

On the south (entrance) elevation, there is a timber panelled door with an integral fanlight located in a bay that is offset to the left of centre, with a single window aligned above it. To the outer left, there is a bipartite window at ground level and a single window above. The bay to the right of the entrance has single windows on both floors. In the subsequent bay to the right, there is a bipartite window at ground level, a single window above, and a modern sliding glazed door in the lean-to addition on the outer right.

The west (side) elevation features a 2-bay gable-end with a single window at the first floor, offset to the right of centre, and a small attic light offset to the left. The north (rear) elevation includes a small stair window offset to the left of centre, with single windows at both floors in the subsequent bay to the right. The east (side) elevation has a gable-end with a full-width lean-to addition projecting at ground level and a small attic light offset to the right of centre.

The cottage predominantly has 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, with modern rooflights in the lean-to addition. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring stone-coped skews and stone ridging. There are corniced, brick-built ridge and apex stacks with various circular cans, and cast-iron rainwater goods are present.

The interior was not seen in 1998. A rubble wall encloses the site at the front.
