Description
This is an early 19th-century post box building with later additions and alterations, located on a sloping site. It is a 2-storey, 3-bay house that has a single-storey garage block attached to the side. The exterior is made of ribbon-pointed, tooled sandstone rubble, featuring tooled rubble quoins, painted margins, and projecting painted cills.
On the west (entrance) elevation, there is a replacement timber panelled door set back in the centre, with an integral fanlight above it. A single window is aligned above the door, and there are single windows on both floors in the flanking bays. The adjoining single-storey block to the right has a 2-leaf boarded timber garage door offset to the left of centre, and a wall-mounted post box is positioned to the right.
The north (side) elevation is a blind gable-end, with a single-storey addition recessed to the outer left. The east (rear) elevation features an exterior stair leading to a gabled timber door that breaks the eaves, offset to the left of centre. There is a squat single window at ground level in the right bay, and single windows in both floors of the outer left and right bays. A single-storey addition projects to the outer left.
On the south (side) elevation, there is a projecting single-storey addition at ground level, with a gabled block set behind it. The building predominantly has 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, although some modern glazing is present at the rear. The house has a grey slate roof with timber bargeboards, while the garage block features red pantiles. There are corniced, brick-built apex stacks with circular cans and cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 1998.
