Pitlessie Arms Hotel, High Street, Pitlessie

The Pitlessie Arms Hotel is an earlier 19th century building that started as a single-storey, three-bay cottage and was raised to two storeys later in the century, now featuring a single storey and attic. To the east, there is a two-bay gabled wing that extends northwards, creating an L-plan layout. The exterior is heavily stugged ashlar, with coursed stone on the ground floor and snecked and squared ashlar dressings on the first floor. It has rusticated quoins and ground floor architraves, all of which are painted. The central door is topped with a fanlight and has a pilastered doorpiece, while the windows are mostly plate glass sashes. There is a band course above the ground floor, straight skews, corniced end stacks, and a modern red tile roof. The south elevation of the painted, rubble-built wing has had all its windows altered. The roof is a mix of slated and tiled. There is a modern wing to the north that is of no interest.
