The Cottage, The Knapp

The Cottage at The Knapp is an earlier 19th century single-storey and attic L-plan cottage. It features rubble construction with ashlar dressings, one ashlar and two brick end stacks, and a grey slate roof. The front door and windows on the ground floor have hoodmoulds, and the windows have casement frames that were originally lattice-paned. The corners of the building are accentuated with stugged quoins.

On the south elevation, there is a door in the center flanked by a window on the left and right, with two gabled dormerheads above and a modern rooflight. The right return gable is blank. The west elevation has a bay on the left with a door and window, and a gabled dormerhead that breaks through the eaves; the gable on the right is blank. The north elevation features an advanced gable to the right with a window in the attic, and a lean-to structure at the left re-entrant. The interior has not been seen.
