Nye Cottage, The Knapp

Nye Cottage, located at The Knapp, is an earlier 19th century single storey and attic cottage with a rectangular plan, originally consisting of two cottages. The front features coursed stugged rubble, while the sides are made of random rubble, with stugged ashlar dressings and a purple slate roof. The front has painted droved ashlar margins around the windows and doors, with hoodmoulds over the ground floor openings. The ground floor on the south elevation has plate glass casements, and the attic features lattice-paned casements, although most of the windows elsewhere are modern timber. The eaves are bracketted, and there are heightened, coped masonry stacks at both ends.

On the south elevation, there are two multi-pane doors at the center, with a window on each side, and two gable dormer windows in the attic. The east gable has two windows on both the ground floor and attic levels. The west gable also features two windows on both floors. The north elevation includes small modern additions and dormers.

Inside, there are two re-used datestones, one marked with ?PH 1727? on the left and another with ?1726? on the right.
