Description
Brook Cottage, located at Cherrytrees, is a later 19th century reworking of an earlier cottage. It is a two-storey, three-bay house featuring a second storey that breaks the eaves in gabled dormerheads. The exterior is finished in natural harl over rubble whinstone, with grey sandstone ashlar dressings.
On the northeast elevation, there is a central door with a stone-bracketed slab canopy, leading to a boarded door with a two-pane fanlight above. Flanking the door are windows on both the ground and first floors. The east elevation is blank. The sash and case windows have an 8-pane glazing pattern. The house has overhanging eaves supported by timber brackets and features exposed rafters, with kingposts in the dormerheads. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped stacks made of polychrome brick.
