Description
East Lodge, Cherrytrees is a later 19th century, two-storey house with a gabled roof and three bays, featuring a first floor that breaks the eaves. The exterior is finished in natural harl with ashlar sandstone dressings.
On the south elevation, the wide gable is slightly advanced to the left. There is a centrally located door at the re-entrant angle, which is sheltered by a slab canopy supported by brackets. The door is boarded. To the right of the door, there is a window, and above it, a bipartite window at the first floor level breaks the eaves in a flat-roofed dormer head. In the advanced bay to the left, there is a stone mullioned tripartite window at ground level, with a bipartite window in the gable head above. The east gabled elevation features a window on each floor.
The sash and case windows have an 8-pane glazing pattern. The eaves overhang, showing exposed rafters and timber brackets, is complemented by a kingpost and finial on the advanced gable. The building also has polychrome brick end stacks.
The gatepiers consist of corniced ashlar, while the quadrant is made of whinstone rubble with gablet sandstone coping.
