Description

Turnpike Cottage is an early 19th-century toll house constructed from ashlar-faced and squared rubble stone, topped with a stone-tiled hipped roof and featuring a west side stack. The building stands two storeys tall, with an ashlar canted south end facing the road, which includes a floor band. It has 12-pane sash windows on both floors, with a blank window in the centre of the first floor. An ashlar flat porch has been added, which replaces the original central door with another 12-pane sash window. There are two 20th-century windows on the east side and a 20th-century hipped-roof addition at the rear.
