Description
Mansewood is a mid-19th century, two-storey and attic house with three bays, located at Dean Place in Portpatrick. It features a single-storey, two-bay wing on the left side. The building is constructed of whinstone, which has been painted on the sides, and has ashlar long and short surrounds around its openings.
On the south elevation, the central entrance leads into the three-bay section on the right, featuring a timber door with a letterbox fanlight above. There is a single window above the entrance on the first floor, along with single windows at both the ground and first floors to the right. To the left, there is a canted bay window at both the ground and first floors, and canted dormers in the attic on the outer left and right, with a small round-arched dormer in the center. The single-storey bay on the outer left has two single windows.
The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring stone skews, broad stacks, and circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1997. The property is enclosed by a whitewashed boundary wall, topped with decorative iron railings, and has an entrance gate to the right.
