Hamilton Town Hotel, 29-41 Townhead Street, Hamilton

The Hamilton Town Hotel, located at 29-41 Townhead Street in Hamilton, is a mid-19th century building that has undergone later alterations and features a large modern addition at the rear. This hotel consists of a two-storey and attic structure with 11 bays, designed in a classical style with an asymmetrical arrangement. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar with a harled gable and a slate roof.

The windows are a mix of single and bipartite architraved designs, featuring plate glass sash and case glazing, along with round-headed pedimented dormers. The roof is adorned with corniced and coped ashlar ridge stacks. On the left side, there are four bays that include a round-headed doorcase topped with a massive consoled broken segmental pediment, two windows to the left, and one to the right, each with voluted pediments. The first floor has four windows with lugged architraves and three dormers.

To the right, there are four bays that include a close door to the right, two bipartite windows to the left, and a four-light canted oriel window on the first floor to the left, along with three single windows to the right. This section features a platformed pyramidal roof with a dormer to the left, although the brattishing has been removed. The far-right section consists of three bays with modern shopfronts on the ground floor and a single window on the first floor flanked by bipartite windows, which have out-of-character modern glazing.
