1 Bourne Street And 8 Keith Street, Hamilton

1 Bourne Street and 8 Keith Street is a three-storey tenement building dating from around 1900, located on a corner site and featuring 'Glasgow style' architectural details. The exterior is constructed of red ashlar with a slate roof. The ground floor has a modern barfront, while the corniced ground floor includes margined windows set in two-storey panels. The second floor features round-headed windows with hoodmoulds, plate glass at the bottom, and multi-pane windows at the top, all framed with sash and case. Wrought-iron balconies are situated on stone platforms, and the building has a corniced wallhead, stacks, and coped parapets.

On the Keith Street elevation, the ground floor has a barfront, with two windows on the first and second floors to the right. The right side features an open-pedimented octagonal window and a square-headed window on both the first and second floors with a balcony at the second floor. The left side has a splayed angle with a ground floor window topped by a massively keystoned segmental open pediment, and canted windows on the upper floors, along with a segmental parapet that includes a cartouche. The Bourne Street elevation has a door to the left with an oculus above, a massively corbelled balcony, and a barfront to the right. There is a canted window on the first and second floors to the right with a balcony at the second floor, and two windows on the first and second floors to the left flanking smaller windows, along with an open pediment featuring an octagonal window and a window on the first and second floors far left.
