Description

5, 7, 9 Roseneath Terrace is a four-storey, five-bay tenement built around 1875 in the Scots Baronial style. The building features squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. It has a base course and corbelled detailing at the third floor, which extends down in the central bay and is segmental-arched over the first window. The door surrounds are roll-moulded, and the reveals are chamfered.

On the north (entrance) elevation, there is a central segmental-arched doorway flanked by doorways with single windows in the inner left and right bays. The deep-set panelled doors have plate glass fanlights above them. To the outer right, there is a full-height canted window, which is corbelled to a square at the crowstepped gablehead. The ground floor slightly projects and has a canopy. The elevation features dividing cornices and a square blank tablet set in the gablehead. A similar canted window is located to the outer left, surmounted by a cornice and a facetted ogee roof. The central bay has bipartite windows that are cross-mullioned at the first and second floors, with a round-arched pediment at the second floor. The third-floor window breaks the eaves in a finialled and pedimented dormerhead. The remaining bays have single windows, with third-floor windows also breaking the eaves in pedimented and finialled dormerheads.

The building has four-pane and plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with lead flashing, corniced mutual stacks, and moulded cans. The interior was not seen in 1990. There is a low saddleback wall to the street.
