Edinburgh Woolen Mill, 56 High Street, Langholm

The Edinburgh Woolen Mill, located at 56 High Street in Langholm, consists of two adjoining two-storey buildings arranged in an L-plan.

The shop facing Market Place, known as the Edinburgh Woolen Mill Shop, dates from the earlier to mid-19th century. It features a full-length fascia between the floors and has a 20th-century shop front with two three-bay shop fronts flanking a blocked central door. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with rusticated quoins and first-floor window margins, which contain single-pane sash windows. A cornice is present, and the original stacks have been removed.

The building at 56 High Street is from the mid-18th century and has a painted render finish with contrasting chamfered ashlar margins. The render continues on the shop's east gable. It has a central door, and a window to the right that has been converted into a door, featuring modern glazing. The original stacks have also been removed, and the roof is slated.
