Description
This mid-18th century building, originally a house and now two shops, is located on Market Street in Crewkerne. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof, stepped stone coping, and a truncated stack to the left gable end. The building follows a double-depth plan and presents a symmetrical façade with five windows. The first-floor windows are 20th-century plate-glass sashes, set within raised surrounds featuring segmental arches and keystones. A late 19th-century doorcase is centrally positioned and features panelled pilasters, consoles supporting a moulded cornice, and panelled reveals. Adjacent to the right is a late 19th-century shopfront with a set-back central glazed door, an overlight, plate-glass shop windows, a continuous overlight, and a raised-and-fielded panelled plinth. A projecting 20th-century shopfront is located to the left. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
