Description

Probably a house, now a shop, dating from the late 18th century and potentially with earlier origins. The building is constructed of limestone rubble, with a coursed rear wing, and has a plain-tile roof with stone slates to the lower courses; the main block has double-Roman concrete tiles. A Ham Hill stone moulded eaves cornice runs along the front, and the right gable end has stepped coping. The building follows an L-shape plan, with a rear right wing. It is two storeys high with a three-window range to the front. The first-floor windows are 20th-century three-light casements set within stone arches; the central window is slightly narrower with a shallow segmental arch and keystone, possibly indicating a former tripartite sash window. The right return has a 20th-century shopfront below a horizontal fixed three-light window to the left and a small casement with a single horizontal glazing bar to the right. In the rear wing, there is a late 19th-century two-over-two pane sash window to the first floor, and to the far right, a circa 1800 six-panel door glazed to the top, set within a wooden doorcase featuring pilasters and a moulded cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
