Description

Nos. 5 and 6 Hungate are an early 19th-century pair of buildings, which have been altered. They are two storeys and have attics, constructed of coursed rubble with a pantile roof, now featuring two modern dormers. No. 5 has two windows to each floor, with one-over-one sash windows without glazing bars, set beneath lintels. No. 6 has a modern window on the first floor and a modern bow window on the ground floor. A modern door serves No. 6, while No. 5 has a six-panel door with a narrow lintel. The buildings are included in the listing as part of a group alongside the Forest Vale Hotel and a wall, and numbers 1 to 7, 9 to 15, 17 to 22, 24 to 26, No. 26A and No. 27 Hungate; numbers 7, 9, 10, 22 and 24 of those are of local interest.
