Description

42 Hungate is a building dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It is two storeys tall and constructed of coursed stone, topped with a modern tile roof. The section of the building features a cavetto moulded eaves cornice. One part has two modern casement windows above a modern shop front, while the other part has two windows on each storey with stone lintels and no glazing bars. There is a modern door beneath a lintel with a rectangular fanlight. This building is included as part of a group with Nos 29 to 31, Pickering United Reformed Church, and the railings and gates in the courtyard, as well as Nos 33 to 47 and Nos 49 to 52, all of which form a cohesive group.
