Description

9 Smiddy Hill is a building with origins dating back to the 18th century, although the front was altered in the 19th century. It stands two storeys high and is rendered, topped with a pantile roof. The gable ends are finished with stone copings and kneelers, and there are chimney stacks. The building features three windows with stone lintels that have incised keystones and no glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two windows and a mid to late 19th-century doorway, which is flanked by plain pilasters and topped with a thin paired cornice hood. The door is panelled, and there is a rendered plinth with rusticated quoins. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 6 (consecutive), 5A, 6A, The Lettered Board Public House, and Nos 8 and 8A.
