Description
Nos 1 and 2 Birdgate are mid-19th century buildings that stand two storeys tall with attics, constructed from coursed stone. They feature two gabled dormers and three windows with stone lintels and no glazing bars. The ground floor includes a shop window on the left, complete with a fascia and cornice, and a canted bay window that has a moulded and dentil cornice. There is a doorway with brackets and a dentil cornice, leading to a door made of six fielded panels beneath a rectangular fanlight. The elevation facing Smiddy Hill has one gabled dormer and two windows with stone lintels, featuring late 19th-century glazing. Nos 1 to 9 (consecutive) and No 12 are part of a group with Nos 14 to 19 (consecutive).
