Description
Nos 8 and 8A on Smiddy Hill are 18th-century buildings that stand two storeys tall, constructed from white painted brick and topped with a steep pantile roof featuring one brick chimney stack. The facade includes one irregular window and two additional windows with stone lintels, which do not have glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is one window with a stone lintel, alongside a modern door and window to the left, also with a plain stone lintel. The entrance features a carved panelled door with six panels, situated beneath a blocked rectangular fanlight with three lights and a stone lintel. Additionally, there is a 19th-century shop front with a fascia supported by brackets. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 6 (consecutive), 5A, 6A, The Lettered Board Public House, and Nos 8, 8A, and 9.
