Description

17 and 18 Hungate are late 18th century or early 19th century cottages that stand two storeys tall, built from coursed stone with pantile roofs. They feature coped gable ends with kneelers. Number 17 has a small casement window above the carriage entry, two modern windows on the first floor, and two modern bow windows on the ground floor, all of which have glazing bars, along with a modern door. Number 18 has two modern mullion and transom windows with wood lintels on both floors, and a six-panel door with a blocked rectangular fanlight above. These cottages are included as part of a group with several nearby buildings, including the Forest Vale Hotel and other consecutive numbered properties.
