Description

Two cottages, numbers 12 and 14 Hill House Lane, were built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, with later additions and alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. They are constructed of dressed millstone grit with a stone slate roof. Number 12 has one bay, while Number 14 is a single bay with a one-bay addition to the left. Access to the cottages is at the rear. Number 12 features a six-light, flat-faced mullioned window with a flush stone surround on each floor. Number 14 has a six-light, flat-faced mullioned window in a flush stone surround to the right, and a 19th-century sash window to the left on each floor. The cottages have shaped kneelers and an ashlar coping to the roof. They have three stacks. The cottages are included in the list for their contribution to the group value of the area.
