Description
36 and 37 Hungate is a 18th-century building that was originally one house. It is two storeys high, constructed of coursed stone, and features a pantile roof with one coped gable end that has a kneeler. There are two brick stacks on the roof. The flat-arched carriage entry has a blocked circular window above it. The building has two windows, which are hung sashes with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is a central door with six panels beneath a rectangular fanlight, and a modern door is located to the right. Stone lintels are present above the doors and windows. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 29 to 31, Pickering United Reformed Church, railings and gates in the courtyard, and Nos 33 to 47 and 49 to 52, all of which are consecutive.
