Description
35 Hungate is a late 18th century or early 19th century building that stands two storeys high, constructed from coursed stone with rusticated quoins. It features a pantile roof with coped gable ends, kneelers, and brick stacks. The façade has three windows, which are hung sashes with glazing bars, and are topped with stone lintels that include keystones. On the ground floor, there are two splayed bays with three lights each, also featuring hung sashes with glazing bars. The central doorway is approached by three steps and has a six-panel door, topped with an open pediment supported by consoles and carved pilasters. A semi-circular fanlight with cable moulding is located above the door. The building is finished with a cavetto moulded eaves cornice. It forms part of a group with Nos 29 to 31, the Pickering United Reformed Church, railings and gates in the courtyard, and Nos 33 to 47, as well as Nos 49 to 52.
