Description

3 Hungate is an 18th-century cottage situated on the south side of Hungate. It has two storeys and a steep pantile roof. The cottage features two brick chimneys. Two casement windows are visible on the first floor, breaking the eaves and featuring glazing bars. A modern bow window with glazing bars has been added to the ground floor. There are two doors: one leading to a yard on the left, and another plain door providing access to the house itself, both with wooden lintels. The construction is of coursed hammered stonework, now white-painted. It forms a group with the Forest Vale Hotel and associated wall, along with numbers 1 to 7, 9 to 15, 17 to 22, 24 to 26, 26A, and 27 Hungate, with numbers 7, 9, 10, 22, and 24 holding particular local interest.
