Description

This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located at the junction with the A162 on the south side of West Leeds Road in Tadcaster. It is made of ashlar stone and features a cast-iron facade. The milestone has an oblong shape with a semi-circular top and stands approximately 1.15 metres high. It displays raised lettering painted black on a white background, which reads 'TADCASTER AND HALTONDIAL / TURNPIKE ROAD' around the head and 'LEEDS / 14 / MILES' on the front face.
