Description
24 and 26 High Street are a pair of houses dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations. They are built from pinkish-brown brick and feature a roof made of pantiles and stone slates. The buildings are L-shaped in plan and consist of two storeys with four bays.
The entrance to No 26 is located at the end and features a 20th-century door beneath a radial fanlight with glazing bars set within a round arch. There is a carriage entrance in the third bay that leads to a passage at the rear, which has exposed beams and rafters. No 26 also has a rear entrance.
The front facade includes two bow windows, with the central windows being 16-pane sashes flanked by 8-pane sashes, all set in a pilastered surround topped with a cornice. A three-course band runs along the first floor. The first floor features two-pane sashes in flush wood architraves. The roof is higher and hipped to the right, with ridge, end, and rear stacks.
