Description
This milestone, located one mile east of another milestone opposite the junction with Croft Lane, dates from the 19th century. It is made of ashlar stone with a cast-iron facade and has a triangular shape with a semi-circular top. The milestone stands approximately 1 metre high. The west face features a raised inscription in black on a white background indicating distances: "BOSTON / 3 MILES / WETHERBY / 6¼ MILES / HAREWOOD / 10 MILES / OTLEY / 16¼ MILES." The east face shows "TADCASTER / 1 MILE," and around the head, it reads "TADCASTER & OTLEY / ROAD / TADCASTER WEST."
