Description

The Rectory is a 1768 building located on the Newton-Kyme-cum-Newton-Kyme Hall Estate in Toulston. It is constructed of magnesian limestone ashlar with a Weldsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and five bays wide. It features a plinth and a step leading to the central entrance, which now has a sash window with glazing bars in a moulded architrave, topped by a hood supported by consoles. There is a continuous cill band to the ground floor. Sashes with glazing bars are found throughout, with those on the first floor having separate cills. A low parapet, incorporating a balustrade in the centre and four ball finials, conceals the roof. End and ridge stacks are present. The interior includes an 18th-century open-well staircase with turned balusters and panelling in a left-hand room, along with shutters. A porch and garages, of no particular interest, were added in the 20th century to the right of the building.
