Description

The chimney to John Smith's Brewery, built around 1883 by Scammell & Collier of Leeds, is a Grade II listed structure. It is made of rusticated sandstone and features steel bands. The chimney has an octagonal shape and stands approximately 65 metres high. It slightly tapers as it rises and flares out at the top, where there are blind openings set under elliptical arches with keystones. A cornice completes the design.
