Description
Milestone located approximately 100 metres south of the junction with Colton Lane. This milestone is probably from the early 19th century and consists of a stone post topped with a cast-iron plaque. It stands about 0.75 metres high and has a triangular shape with a round-arched top. The raised inscription is painted black against a white background, displaying "TADCASTER / 31 MILES / LEEDS / 17 MILES" on the east face, "YORK / 6½ MILES" on the west face, and "TADCASTER & HOBMOOR / ROAD / STEETON" around the head.
