Description

Milestone located 1 mile south of Milestone, approximately 100 metres south of the junction with Colton Lane. This milestone, likely from the early 19th century, is a stone post that stands about 0.75 metres high and features a cast-iron plaque. It has a triangular shape with a round-arched top. The raised inscription is painted black against a white background, displaying "TADCASTER / 3 MILES / LEEDS / 17 MILES" on the east face, and "YORK / 6½ MILES" on the west face, with "TADCASTER & HOBMOOR / ROAD / STEETON" around the head.
