Description

Cartmell Mawson and Main, Solicitors Office, is an office building that was formerly houses, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of snecked red sandstone ashlar, featuring a rusticated plinth and modillions at the eaves. The building has a graduated slate roof with lead hips and brick chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and has four bays. There are two entrances with six-panel doors that have plain stone surrounds, each topped with a moulded cornice and console brackets. The sash windows, which include glazing bars, also have plain painted stone surrounds. The building extends in an L-shape to include No 65 Main Street.
