Description
Lorne Terrace comprises a row of shops with flats above and an end house, dating from the late 18th century, with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of incised painted stucco and rendered walls with ashlar quoins, topped by a green slate roof and 20th-century brick and stucco chimney stacks. It consists of three storeys and two bays per property. Number 1 retains its early 20th-century butcher’s shop facade. Numbers 2, 3, and 4 have 20th-century shop windows and entrances. Number 5 retains an early 19th-century shop window with glazing bars and a top-glazed six-panel door; it is now a house. The upper floors are characterised by sash windows, some with glazing bars.
