Description
16 Front Street is a former bank building, constructed in 1919 and used as such until 2018, with offices located above. The building dates from the mid-19th century and is made of red sandstone ashlar featuring a rusticated plinth, a dentilled moulded cornice, and a parapet. It has a graduated green slate roof with raised gables and ashlar chimney stacks. The entrance includes a 20th-century panelled door. The ground floor showcases Victorian decorated cast-iron casements, which are separated by pulvinated ashlar blocks. A drip mould above the windows is adorned with scrolled decoration, and single-pane sashes are topped with recessed ashlar panels.
