Description
Ayrbank House, located at 3 Ballochmyle Street in Catrine, is a former bank built in the mid 19th century. This symmetrical, two-storey building features three bays and an adjoining wing. It is constructed of coursed and stugged red sandstone ashlar with painted dressings, and includes quoin strips, a base course, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are regularly spaced and have moulded architraves. The central entrance boasts a deep-set, corniced panelled door, flanked by segmental-headed windows. To the east, there is a three-bay wing that has two blind arched windows and a panelled door, with a second storey above the inner bay. The building is topped with a piended roof covered in grey slates, and features massive corniced ashlar wallhead stacks with octagonal cans.
The interior was not inspected in 1996. The property is enclosed by boundary walls, which include a coped quadrant ashlar wall to the west that surrounds the garden, and fine cast-iron railings with fleur-de-lys heads on ashlar footings that enclose the front garden.
