Description
The Scotch Arms Hotel is a public house, likely originally built as a house, dating from the early 18th century. It features incised stucco walls with raised quoins and a moulded cornice, topped by a graduated slate roof and a brick chimney stack. The building stands three storeys high and has three bays. The entrance is highlighted by a flattened elliptical hood supported by console brackets, with reeded pilaster strips and decorated capitals. The six-panel door is framed by a pilaster strip surround with a scalloped keystone. The sash windows are set within plain painted stone surrounds and have shutter hinge brackets. To the left, there is a two-storey, two-bay extension that shares similar architectural details, including a flat arch. There is also a stable entrance to the left. The listing does not include 20th-century extensions to the rear.
