Description

Birds Cottage is a late 17th-century house located on the south side of Titchmarsh High Street. The building was altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of regular coursed limestone and has a thatched roof. The original plan was likely for two or three units. It is a single-story building with an attic. The front elevation has a four-window range of 19th-century style casement windows, each set under a lintel made of wood and concrete. Similar casement windows are found in eyebrow dormers in the attic. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the centre, also under a wood lintel. A brick stack is situated at the end of the building. A bay to the left was remodelled in the 20th century. A 20th-century lean-to extension to the left gable has a plain-tile roof. The interior was not inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
