Description
Virginia Cottage is a house dating from 1712, constructed of squared coursed limestone with a pantile roof. It originally had a two-unit plan and is two storeys high. The front features a two-window range of 20th-century casements, with the ground floor right window having an ashlar surround and a hood mould. The first-floor windows are located under Lincolnshire eaves dormers. There is a central 20th-century door with a hood and a flight of stone steps leading up to it. The left gable has an ashlar parapet and finial, while the right gable has an ashlar parapet and a brick and stone stack aligned with the party wall. The left gable also includes a first-floor unhorned sash window with glazing bars beneath a wood lintel. A datestone is positioned in the apex of the gable. The rear of the house has 19th and 20th-century extensions. Inside, there is a large open fireplace with a bressumer in the room to the right of the entrance, and the first-floor structure is supported by an internal timber frame.
