Description

This is a house, dated 1711 according to a datestone, located on Chapel Street in Titchmarsh. It is constructed of regular coursed and squared limestone with a thatched roof. The house follows a two-unit plan and is a single storey building with an attic. The front elevation features a two-window arrangement on the ground floor, with 20th-century casement windows containing glazing bars, set beneath concrete lintels. There are two further casement windows with glazing bars in the attic, lit by an eyebrow dormer. An ashlar gable parapet is present on the left side, with a brick and stone stack at the end. The roof slopes down to a hipped form on the right side, with a brick stack at the verge. The rear elevation mirrors the front, with two eyebrow dormers and a 20th-century door on the left side. The interior, which has not been inspected, retains an open fireplace with a bressumer, along with chamfered spine beams and posts, indicating the presence of an internal timber frame that once supported a first floor. The building is included in the listing primarily for its contribution to the wider group value of the area.
