2/131 Nos 1 and 2 The Old School House (formerly listed as No 15) 23.1.52 GV II

Former school house adjoining The Old Shop (q.v.). Late C18-early C19. Porch formerly dated 1830 on plaque set into pediment of porch (inscription now illegible). Ashlar facade, otherwise coursed squared and dressed limestone, stone slate roof, artificial stone stack. Rectangular main body with single storey extension rear left. Main body; 2 storeys and attic, 4-windowed facade, all 2-light stone-mullioned casements to first floor. Three-light stone- mullioned casements either side of projecting porch windows to ground floor. Central 4-panelled door with 4-pane hall light over within projecting stone porch with simple triangular pediment incorporating rectangular stone inscription panel. Two-light stone- mullioned garret light and single-light with stone surround in left gable end. Plank door up 7 brick steps in left wall of single storey extension rear left, giving access to No 2. Flat gable end coping to main body; left gable end stack. Interior not inspected.
