Description

The building is a former school and adjoining school house, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins, featuring a stone slate roof on the main body and a red tile roof on the porch. There is an ashlar stack and a squared and dressed limestone stack. The building has a 'T'-shaped plan with a small extension at the northwest.

The school house is one and a half storeys tall. The south entrance front includes two gabled half dormers on the left side, and features two and three-light stone-mullioned casements. There is a 19th-century plank door set within a flat-chamfered stone surround with a relieving arch for the school house. The school room has two tall two-light stone-mullioned casements and a gabled porch with diagonal buttresses. The porch contains a 19th-century plank door within a flat-chamfered pointed-arched surround, located far right, which provides access to the school room. A three-light stone-mullioned casement with a relieving arch is found at the east gable end. The school house has a gable-end stack with a deep moulded capping, while the school room features a lateral bell-hanging chimney. The interior was not inspected. At the time of the last survey in October 1986, some slates were missing from the roof, and the school house chimney stack was noted to be in poor condition.
