Description

The school and school house, built in the mid-19th century, features coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof. The stacks were restored in the 20th century using artificial stone that mimics ashlar. The school has a rectangular plan and is a single storey, while the school house is two storeys and positioned at right angles to the front left of the school.

The school has three tall three-light casements, one of which includes a transom, and the other two have a taller window in the center. There is one cross-mullioned window and two single-light windows. The roof includes four dormers: two with blind single-light windows that have dressed stone surrounds, flanking a smaller dormer with an illegible rectangular datestone. The far right features a dormer with a blind quatrefoil.

The school house has a symmetrical facade with three windows. On the ground floor, there is one two-light and one four-light stone-mullioned casement, and on the upper floor, there are three two-light stone-mullioned casements. A 19th-century plank door is set within a four-centred arched dressed stone surround. The gable end facing the road has two two-light stone-mullioned casements, and the gable ends feature flat coping. There are gable-end and axial stacks. The interior has not been inspected. This building is prominently located at the center of the village.
