Description

The Old School House is a former school and school house built in 1848. The building is constructed of orange-coloured, coursed, squared, and dressed limestone with cream-coloured quoins. It has stone slate and artificial stone slate roofing, stone ridge tiling, and brick stacks. The building has an 'L' shape, with a single-storey extension to the front and rear right. A gable end projects forwards towards the road.

The ground floor features two-light stone-mullioned casement windows with stopped hoods. The gable end contains a single-light casement with a dressed stone surround, formerly a porch entrance. The first floor of the school house includes single and two-light stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods. A single two-light dormer window is above the school section. A double-glazed door with glazing bars sits within a Tudor-arched surround, incorporating carved spandrels and a stopped hood, situated between the school house and the former entrance porch, which has a blocked door in its return.

The building features flat coped gables, roll-moulded ridge tiling, and gable-end stacks. The interior remains uninspected.
