Description

This is an 18th-century cottage with a 19th-century extension, one of two cottages in Coln St Dennis. It is constructed from limestone rubble, with a stone slate roof and a rebuilt 20th-century stack. The building has a rectangular plan, with the later extension added to the right gable end. It is one and a half storeys high, with three gable windows. The front features two two-light, double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement windows with moulded hoods. A two-light steel casement is present on the ground floor of the 19th-century extension, and similar casements with concrete lintels are on the first floor. A 19th-century plank door, fitted with a thumb latch, is located in the centre of the original cottage section, recessed within a projecting stone porch with a flat concrete slab roof. A former gable-end stack is now concealed by the later extension. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
